The Island Hispaniola , is divided into two part . The main part is the Dominican Republic that covers 2/3 of the island with a total from 48,679km2 . The Dominican Republic has around 9,000,000 habitants and receives yearly over 3,000,000 tourists from all over the world. The Dominican Republic has a very stable democracy and presidential elections are held every 4 years .
Sosua :
Located at only 5 miles from the International airport of Puerto Plata. Sosua was founded by Jewish immigrants around the 1940's . Still many businesses such as supermakets , Dairy farms and industries are owned by the Jewish families. Sosua is divided into two parts . The old part where most of the Dominican live is called "Los Charamicos" . The new part where most of the hotels , restaurants and residential areas are located is called "El Batey" . Both parts are connected through the beach . In Sosua due to its very mixed crowd of foreigners living in the area , you will find back German , Swiss , Italien . etc. bakeries , butchers , restaurants , etc. .

The official currency is the Dominican Peso. But US dollars and Euro are accepted in most places . Also the Dominican banks offer accounts in Pesos , USD and Euros. Since we are located and specialized in properties on the norhtcoast of the Dominican Republic , below some information about the Sosua and Cabarete area.
Cabarete :
Located at 15 miles from Puerto Plata airport . Cabarete is a small and unique town with lots of International travellers and tourists , very well known to be one of the 10 best places in the world for windsurf and kitesurf. Cabarete was discovered around 20 years ago by a Canadien windsurfer who found out that this unique beach was just perfect to practise his favorite sport ! The word got around fast and Cabarete became one of the favorite vacation spots in the Dominican Republic. On the beach of Cabarete you will find back many bars / restaurants and sport shools . At night time some of them turn into discoteques for those who like to dance on the Caribbean Rythm .

Between Sosua and Cabarete :
Here you will find back most residential areas with villas and condos . Sosua and Cabarete belong to the province of Puerto Plata . The center of Puerto Plata is around 20 miles west of Sosua . Here you will find back some commercial centers , big supermarkets and many tipical Dominican bars , restaurant and discos .
Puerto Plata has a beautifull Oceandrive, called " Malecon" . Some nice restaurants with oceanview are worth to be visited and for those who like to walk , the oceandrive is around 3 miles long !
Medical : There are different clinics in the Sosua / Cabarete and Puerto Plata area . Medical Insurance is available at a much lower cost as in the US or Europe.
Sports : Many sport activities are available . Such as tennis , golf , biking tours , windsurf , kitesurf , horse back riding , diving , etc. .
Transport : Taxis are available at most places in town at very reasonable prices . Also public transport ( not that confortable , but worth to try it out at least once to have that experience ) is very cheap . Different rental car companies have offices at Puerto Plata airport and in the towns of Sosua and Cabarete.
Purchasing a car : There are many used and new car dealers in the DR . Prices of cars altough can be up to 40% higher then in the US and Europe.
